Grand Serre hike

Description

Set off to conquer a mythical mountain, which gave its name to the Alpe du Grand Serre resort.
At the top, an exceptional panorama on the Vercors, the Chartreuse, Belledonne, the Matheysine and all the agglomeration of Grenoble.

The Grand Serre is this symbolic mountain that protects you when you are in the resort center and which gave its name to Alpe du Grand Serre. Venerable summit, it offers breathtaking panoramas of the neighboring mountains, the Matheysin plateau and the Grenoble area.

Several possibilities are available to you to access it.

Departure from the Desert, park near the TK des Cochettes. Take the path of the squirrels which starts on the right of the ski lift and turns left to cross the wood and finally arrive at the level of the alpine ski slopes and TS de la Blache. It is also possible to take the Blache chairlift which will save you around 300 meters in altitude.

Then, follow the path which passes under the TS du Serriou (2nd). During the ascent, take the opportunity to listen to and observe the marmots that will guide you during the ascent.

From there, either follow the ridges to arrive at the Grand Serre. The journey is made in A / R. You can also follow the GR 549 and go down to the Bergeries where herds stay in the mountain pastures all summer. By following the GR549 you will cross the Pâtres and Parché ski lift line. From there, go up towards the Grand Serre via the Cloutons ski lift line. Return to the Col du Parché pass to descend to the Bergeries and take the GR 549 again.
